Rising International is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting women-owned businesses, globally and locally. What sets Rising International apart from similar ventures is its marketing channel. They conduct house parties much like Avon’s or Pampered Chef’s but instead of make up or cookware they sell the handcrafted work of women from 19 countries. The first party was held in the founders home on May 11, 2002 and they now contract over 80 independent sales consultants.
Rising International makes its mark in two particularly noteworthy ways. First of course, they connect consumers to artisan sellers who would otherwise have no means for expanding their markets. Secondly, they have created a splintered program dubbed “Travel for a Cause” and here they connect travelers who wish to help the cause while seeing the world. At present 10-15 people travel poverty stricken countries where they purchase inventory for Rising International. It’s a win-win! The program promotes travel, feeding much needed travel dollars into the local economy while it creates sales channels. Shop Rising International and see the how well they make this work.
